IFK Lidingö FK was one of 44 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Golden Cup 2016. They participated with two teams in P04 Svår/Extra svår. Two teams played until in Gruppspel; P04 Svår/Extra svår 1 lost against Vasastan BK 2 by 1-2 and P04 Svår/Extra svår 2 lost against Vasastan BK 1 by 0-8.

In addition to this, IFK Lidingö FK have participated in Golden Cup before. During Golden Cup 2015, IFK Lidingö FK had 5 teams playing in P06 Lätt/Medel, P04 Svår/Extra svår, P03 Svår/Extra svår and P02 Svår/Extra svår respectively. Three teams played until Final in Slutspel; P06 Lätt/Medel won over AIK FF:Vit by 1-0, P02 Svår/Extra svår 1 won over Täby FK AK by 4-3 and P03 Svår/Extra svår lost against Vendelsö IK by 0-2.

IFK Lidingö FK comes from Lidingö which lies approximately 27 km from Kungsängen, where Golden Cup takes place. The area around Lidingö does also provide 40 additional clubs participating during Golden Cup 2016 (Among others: Spånga IS FK 6, Vendelsö IK, Sollentuna FK, FC Djursholm, Stuvsta IF, Enskede IK, Apollon Solna FK, Åkersberga FC, Vasastan BK and FC Boo).
